Somatic Therapy in Cleveland

You might be interested in somatic therapy because you’re feeling anxious, stuck, or insecure. You want to feel confident in yourself, but struggle with self-esteem. Perhaps you’ve tried traditional talk therapy in the past, and you’re looking for something deeper.

If this is you, you’re in the right place. Somatic therapy can help.

What is somatic therapy?

In somatic therapy, we use the felt-sensations in your body to access the subconscious. This means we can go deeper than traditional talk therapy. By working with the feelings that arise in your body as you tell your story, we can resolve long-held patterns and heal old emotional wounds.

Many clients come to therapy feeling:

  • Never good enough and wondering if there’s something wrong with you

  • Overwhelmed by anxiety loops that keep you constantly worrying and stuck in your head

  • Feeling stuck in life and frustrated with yourself

Through somatic therapy, many clients leave feeling:

  • Confident in yourself and comfortable in your own skin

  • Excited to wake up in the morning with energy

  • Finally free from that anxiety spiral that used keeps you stuck every day

  • Light instead of heavy and exhausted

  • Capable of making decisions with clarity and confidence

  • At peace and unshakable in the face of conflict

  • Empowered to speak up and use your voice

  • More creative, playful, and in the flow

What is Somatic Experiencing?

Somatic Experiencing is a trauma treatment modality created by Peter Levine that heals trauma by processing stuck energy through the nervous system. As humans, the flight, fight, or freeze response from a traumatic experience often gets stuck in our nervous system, dysregulating us and creating repeating patterns of anxiety, rage, or depression.

Through Somatic Experiencing techniques we can go back to traumatic memories in a gentle way, allowing your body to release the trauma energy that has been stuck in the body. Through this process, your body gets to complete what has felt incomplete and unsettling for so long. Clients often experience a sense that the trauma is complete, resolved, and finally feels like it’s in the past. This work often leaves you feeling calmer, lighter, more present, and back to your “normal self”.
